Do they even have the right to abandon their customers like that even when taken over by another company?
I feel that Cakewalk should have provided a patch or a fix of some sort if they felt compelled to close down this automated online registration link. Now, all my old little projects I was doodling with; what little I had recorded- are lost.-Unless a solution is found.

Thank you.Dan. Hi, I switched from Windows XP to Vista 64 and tried the tip below. But my RCP still wants to goto the activation server???
Got any ideas on how to fix that?http /www.brainless.org/I was able to get a working copy of the REG Edit with this previous method mentioned and back it up on my CD. It works great on my 32 bit machine, but is totally ignored on my 64 bit machine. Is there any way to get past this issue, or is it trash now??This is probably ancient history by now, but on Win8.1, I changed the Registry path for the keys above toHKEYLOCALMACHINESOFTWARE Wow6432NodeVoyetraSetupReg17RecordProducer5and it worked like a charm.

Nowadays even PC technicians use these automatic driver update utilities in their day to day work. The First Things You Should Know About Your USBBecause USB is an acronym, it's probably best there.
USB stands for Universal Serial Bus, and is a specification standard by which one device can communicate with another device. Generally, for USB to function, it requires a device, like a printer or MP3 player, and a host controller, which is generally a computer. If your computer was built within the last fifteen years, there's a good chance that your computer not only has a series of USB ports, but that most of your devices connect to your computer directly through USB. Whether you're using a printer, MP3 player, flash drive, network adapters, or just about anything else not built directly into your computer, then it is probably communicating with your computer through a USB connection.
So What Does a USB Driver Do?Like all types of device drivers, the USB driver is responsible for providing the USB host controller with a set of instructions for how to process data moving through USB ports. What this means is that no matter what type of device you have attached to your computer, if it's running through a USB port, then the USB device driver is providing the instructions for how to handle that communication. However, unlike some other types of device drivers, like display drivers or CD/DVD ROM drivers, USB device drivers tend to directly impact the performance of many different devices instead of just one. That's because of the wide variety of different devices that operate through USB. Due to this extra layer of complexity, and the extra damage that USB device driver failure can cause, it is important to make sure that it is running correctly at all times - and the easiest way to guarantee that is with Driver Genius. What Happens if your USB Driver is Outdated or Broken?A wide variety of problems can occur if your USB device drivers become outdated or broken. Like other device drivers, when your USB driver fails, it has a direct impact on the devices that the driver operates. Unfortunately, when a USB driver fails, it can often mean the loss of the functionality of your printer, MP3 player, eBook reader, or almost anything you have connected to your computer.
Like other device driver failures, the failure of your USB driver can mean computer crashes, slowdowns, and all manner of other problems. There are some specific errors that can occur when your USB drivers fail or are so outdated that they cease functioning. While the impact of each of these can be different, we think it's important to list some of them so you have an idea of when your device driver has failed:. Code 1: The device is not configured correctly.
Code 3: The driver for this device might be corrupted, or your system may be running low on memory or other resources. Code 10: The device cannot start. Code 16: Windows cannot identify all the resources this device uses.Unfortunately, despite advances in the newest Windows operating systems, error codes can still be very archaic and difficult for even advanced users to understand.
Even worse, they do not even begin to instruct you how to diagnose the problem - much less fix it. Thankfully, software like Driver Genius can eliminate any and all driver problems you would ever encounter by automatically updating and installing correct drivers before they become a problem.Same goes with searching for a very specific driver such as: Voyetra Record Producer Midi driver. In this case - rather than trying to find & download the driver from unknown sources, we also recommend using a professional driver update utility to save time and keep you on the safe side.
Even though there is no guarantee that this specific driver will be found using a driver update utility – the scan process is very fast and user friendly, and you might as well find other drivers that needs to be updated on your computer to make the most out of it. What You Can Do to Make Sure Your USB Drivers Are Running CorrectlyThere are two ways that you can make sure that your device drivers, like your USB device driver, is running correctly: the easy way and the hard way.
We'll explain both methods to you, and let you determine which one is which. The first way goes something like this: open your Device Manager, find the device whose driver you are looking for, and then find the release date of the driver. Then, navigate to the web site of the original manufacturer, download the new driver, uninstall the old driver, install the new driver, and then reboot your computer. Alternatively, you may receive an error message, and have to follow this process without the aid of one or more of your devices. The second way to make sure your drivers are working correctly is by downloading Driver Genius and letting it download, repair, and install all relevant and official drivers automatically for you at the press of a button. How Can You Avoid Ever Having Driver Conflicts Again? If you are anything at all like most computer users, then you have discovered one of the few seeming rules about computer devices: they fail exactly when you need them the most. Whether you have to print off an essay for a term paper due the next day, take part in an Internet teleconference with important executives from around the world, or even just email your sweetheart to let her know you made it home alright, you know that devices tend to fail most frequently at these times. While Device Driver cannot ensure you never have computer problems, it can guarantee that none of these problems will be driver related by automatically updating and installing the correct driver for your devices - every time, and on time.
Why You Should Install Only Official DriversIf you've done any looking for device drivers, then you've probably stumbled across third-party drivers. Some of them promise faster speeds, higher-quality printing, or any number of other benefits and features. However, you should never use any third-party driver.
Because, chances are, they host viruses, spyware, or other malware.Further, the only programmers that have an in-depth understanding of the devices on your computer are the people that originally wrote the drivers for them. Who else would understand the intricacies of the different devices on a computer?
Using a third-party driver is like taking your bicycle to a car repair garage. Sure, they might be able to fix it. But would you expect them to repair your bike nearly as well as a bike repair shop?
