Management is bad and the turnover is high, let’s get that out first. They are constantly going through managers.
They work on a roll it out and deal with the consequences later. You are constantly thrown through loops, system not working, manager doesn’t know what your doing because they never worked your job, something breaking etc. You’re always micro managed. You’ll feel like you’re not doing enough because they put you up against other people to calculate your production.
It does have its perks, pay is great, benefits are amazing, coworkers are what really make it enjoyable. You’ll be complaining everyday about something to another coworker.
They also encourage you to take on another role and cross train, but don’t pay you any more than what you already make. You’ll be doing someone else’s job on another floor who makes more than you, but you’re still stuck with the normal pay you started with. Get ready to do work that is not in your job description. They also push that you can move up in the company, which is only slightly true. You can move side to side, but rarely do you see a floor employee moved up to a higher position. It’s more higher positions moving to another position on the same level.
They also hire more than needed, and then work is scarce. You’ll be angry at what you see, complain and have nothing done about it. They are also asking about boosting moral, but they won’t budge on what really brings down moral.
The constant tracking of production against team members. I could go on, but in a gist it’s a good first job and you’ll make it just don’t expect much. Toyota Financial Services offers lots of lateral moves but nothing to improve your position or salary.
The company has been repeatedly cutting benefits year after year and their key leasing benefit has been pushing more cost to the representatives. They say they never have done a lay-off but they do actively look for reasons to get rid of people. Everything is a written offense. Even going to the bathroom outside of normal breaks. They were remodeling and had no bathrooms on a floor and told people to watch their fluid intake so they wouldn’t have to go. This was an Actual statement.
They will provide you with misleading or false information but hold you responsible for following the instructions. They allow members that have been there for a month or two to participate in training new team members when there are lots of more experienced team members who can provide better assistance during training.
They require you to be on the phone the minute your shift starts and to the end of shift. They have several policy updates that they don’t allow you time to read but are held accountable for them. They offer little to no monthly incentive.
Depending on departments can be 200-600. A typical day at work is log in, start calls, be aggressive with customers to make their payments. I learned to make sure all my payments were on time to avoid getting collection calls. Management was not very personable. The culture was cut throat to make sure the quota is met and bonus is received. The hardest part of the job was understanding the customers situation and not being able to help, but only demand payment.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the team member and how we collaborated to make sure we all were successful in our positions. I worked at Toyota for a month or two. At first the job environmental seemed outstanding!
The trainer and everyone seemed to show they cared, now that I think about it they mostly “said” they did. Your typical day includes logging in getting your system running and taking calls managers are suprinsigly either down your back in their Secret way or absent. Managers will tell you one thing and change what they said the next day. Hr is horrible.
They are super strict on attendance and expect you to be their 5 minutes before the hour or your on a road to failure. So if your a minute or two late person you won’t make it here. The only good thing about here is their vehicle lease program but if you think about it their smooching money off you and everyone is brainwashed into thinking it’s the best thing. Sure, you don’t pay insurance or anything but gas, but you don’t keep the car and you can just save up for a cheap car and save so much more! The benefits are ok, they are through vst and blue cross. They overate the job and benefits in my opinion. And seem more of the we’re a larger company that acts like a small mom and pop shop when in reality they are just like every other large corporation.
They hide a lot of thing so and you will most likely be let go due to attendance which they don’t care if you have mental health issues or your kid got sick. Pay is good for a customer service rep but not to put up with their bs. Most of the folks are tendered but it’s a small call center and they all live close. Don’t believe they hire because most employees move up story, and you’ll most likely get a 12-9 shift starting off!
TFS winds up their employees like a toy and you work till you run out of juice. They do not want you to think, just act.
If you like to use your brain, do not apply here. They expect you to be apart of all the committees and if you choose not to, you will not advance. The HR department is a joke. Nothing is kept private and the low level employees are treated like trash. While the health benefits are satisfactory, each year they become more expensive with less benefits.
The pay is horrendous and not competitive to the market. The production environment at any Toyota facility is stressful. Even with administrative title processing, there are production matrix to meet and maintain under constant threat of firing if not met.
Training was provided, but not mentored. Management decisions seemed arbitrary and inconsistent.
Hardest part of job was meeting the production numbers set. The most enjoyable part of the job was coworkers and location.
Typical work day is 9 to 10 hour shifts with little to no talking and limited ability to interact with others. I learned that the Toyota production environment is NOT for all people. Research thoroughly before applying. Loyalty is seldom rewarded, but reporting other's mistakes are. Toyota has a tendency to accept increases in profits, without recognizing the contribution for all employees involved in providing the increase.
